The CBR250R was launched in India to cater to growing demand in the entry-level performance segment. Competition has given this quarter-litre motorcycle a run for its money. However, the next-generation model is in the works and it could get a twin-cylinder engine and more updates.
There have been a number of leaks and rumours regarding the CBR250RR which is the race-bred version of the CBR250R. A new rumour suggests that a few important bits from the RR will make it down to the R.
The CBR250R is rumoured to get a twin-cylinder 250cc engine, which will bump the power up significantly from the current single-cylinder set up. The engine is expected to be a smooth and high revving one in typical Honda fashion. Another important change is the ride-by-wire technology. This system replaces throttle cables with an electrically wired or electronic position sensor at the throttle handgrip that sends a signal to control the opening and closing of throttle plates. It results an unruffled and more even throttle input.
With this new model Honda can enter the market once again and rival the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC390. Expect this motorcycle in India sometime in the beginning of 2017.
