Honda flagged off their 2017 One Make Race yesterday with practice sessions. Today, we saw 80 racers in action although the rain played spoilsport towards the end of the day.
There are three new categories introduced in the National Championship - Super Sport Indian 165 (modified), Pro-Stock 165 (Open) and Stock 165 (Novice). The first Super Sport category was led by Rajiv S (a participant of 250RR ARRC Championship 2017 and Pro-Stock 165 Champion 2016) and Mathana Kumar (250R- HOMR Championship 2016). Honda's four CBR150Rs were on grid for the second Pro-Stock category and another four for the novice category.
This year's Honda One Make series is in its 10th edition. The manufacturer got 80 entries for this racing season from participants from all over India. Additionally, the race also saw participation from eight women riders who have been trained at the Honda Ten10 Racing Academy.
The full-fledged season of the Honda All Women Race was kick-started last year. This year too, girls competed in the First Round of the Honda’s exclusive women racing event. This category was led by Ryhana Bee (Winner of the Honda One Make All Ladies Race- 3rd round, 2016 and 1st runner up- Honda One Make All Ladies Race 2016) and Shruti M (2nd runner-up- Honda One Make All Ladies Race 2016).
Honda’s flagship CBR 250R Team Championship too saw intense competition between 20 racers. This included Rajiv S, Anish D Shetty and Piyush Ranjan amongst others, who are amongst India’s top notch racing talent. The riders are from four teams like Apex Racing, Ten 10 Racing, Pro Lap Racing and Rock Star Racing.
Meanwhile, the Honda CBR 150R category saw participation from 40 riders. All of them have undergone extensive training for racing from training schools recognised by MMSC (Madras Motor Sports Club) including the Honda Ten10 Racing Academy. Tomorrow´s event will conclude with all these riders competing for the top-spot. Let's hope the rains don´t play killjoy again, especially for those who are most likely to finish with a podium spot.
