Polaris has launched the 2016 Indian Springfield in India at Rs 31.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Named after the birthplace of the Indian motorcycles, the Springfield is a luxury bagger positioned between the Chief Vintage and the Chieftain.
The Springfield is based on the same Indian Chief platform and gets traditional Indian styling cues like a muscular front, round headlamp and the traditional war bonnet lamp on the skirted fender. The Springfield can be easily converted into a cruiser by removing the saddlebags and windshield. Powering the Springfield is a 1811cc V-twin Thunder Stroke 111 air-cooled engine delivering 137Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission.
The Springfield is now available in two new metallic dual tone colours - steel grey/burgundy and springfield blue/star silver. With this update, Indian has hiked the price of the Springfield by Rs 50,000. Launched as a completely built unit (CBU), the Springfield competes with the likes of Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special, Honda Gold Wing GL1800 and the Moto Guzzi MGX-21.
