Kawasaki has unveiled the 2017 Ninja 300 in the US. Apart from a few cosmetic changes, the Ninja 300 is now available in a new Winter Test Edition variant with a meatier rear tyre.
The Ninja 300 Winter Test Edition is offered in a unique matte black livery inspired by Kawasaki’s World SBK racing team. A double bubble windshield, rear seat cowl and frame sliders are offered as standard. The Ninja 300 Winter Test Edition also gets meatier 150 section rear tyre in place of the standard bike’s 140 section tyre. The Ninja 300 KRT Edition on the other hand, has been updated with new decals.
Under the skin is a 296cc parallel-twin engine delivering 39bhp and 27Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. The Ninja 300 rides on telescopic front forks and a preload adjustable rear monoshock. It gets a 290mm front disc brake and a 220mm rear disc brake, with ABS being offered as an optional extra.
Kawasaki launched the Ninja 300 KRT edition in the Indian market in October, and it seems unlikely that the Winter Test Edition will be introduced here anytime soon. The Ninja 300 competes with the Yamaha YZF-R3, KTM RC390 and the Hyosung GT250R.
