Around six months ago, we told you Kawasaki was working on bringing more supercharged motorcycles to the market and one of these was the upcoming R2. Now, thanks to leaked images from the patent documents, the bike is almost completely revealed.
As expected, the R2 is the smaller version of the Kawasaki H2R. As another picture shows, the bike will use a trellis frame and will feature the same supercharging technology as seen on the hypersport motorcycle. This motorcycle will use the same inline-four configuration but is expected to use a 600cc engine.
Design wise, the R2 looks to share styling cues from the current generation ZX-6R and the H2R. The exhaust has been relocated under the tail to make the side profile sleeker, and you will also notice that the fuel tank has been elongated under the rider’s seat to make more room for the supercharger unit and air intake ducts that are piped through from the front of the fairing.
The motorcycle is expected to hit the market sometime early in 2017.
