The 2017 Kawasaki Versys 650 has been launched in India at Rs 6.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The middleweight adventure tourer now features a revised instrument cluster and a new paint scheme.
The revised instrument cluster now includes a gear position indicator. While globally the new Versys 650 is offered in two paint schemes, Indian customers will have to make do with a flashy black/green paint scheme. There aren’t any changes under the skin. The Versys 650 is built around a tubular steel frame with a 649cc parallel twin engine at its heart. This engine delivers 68bhp and 64Nm of torque through a six-speed transmission.
The Versys 650 rides on adjustable 41mm Showa inverted front forks and an offset KYB monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear. It gets dual 300mm discs at the front and a single 250mm petal disc at the rear, with ABS as standard. While it doesn’t have any direct competition, the Versys 650 shares the market space with the likes of the Benelli TNT 600GT, Triumph Street Twin and the Honda CBR650F.
