Kawasaki has launched the 2017 Z1000 in India at Rs 14.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This BS IV-compliant streetfighter features a slew of cosmetic and technological updates and is available in two versions - standard and Z1000 R.
To improve the rideability, Kawasaki has revised the ECU for a smoother power curve. The Showa Big Piston forks up front have been retuned to improve handling, while the brake pads have also been upgraded. The Kawasaki Z1000 R additionally benefits from a fully adjustable Ohlins S46DR1S monoshock at the rear. Brake setup now consists of Brembo M50 monobloc callipers at the front with stainless steel braided lines. Both the bikes get a revised instrument cluster with a gear position indicator and programmable shift light. The styling changes include a sharper front end, new turn indicators and new paint schemes and decals.
Under the skin is the same 1043cc inline-four engine which delivers 142bhp and a 111Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed tranmission. The additional hardware on the Z1000 R translates into a higher sticker price of Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Kawasaki Z1000 competes with the Suzuki GSX-S 1000, Honda CB1000R, Triumph Speed Triple and the Benelli TNT R. The Z1000 standard is offered in metallic black and green while the Z1000 R Edition is available in metallic black and metallic grey.
