Bajaj has resumed testing the 2017 KTM Duke 390 in India. This was the first time the Duke 390 was captured on camera after its global unveil at 2016 EICMA Show.
To be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan plant, the 2017 Duke 390 is rumoured to be launched in India in the first half of 2017. The heavily camouflaged test mule looked very close to production. The front, side and rear profiles looks exactly like the motorcycle that was unveiled at the EICMA. The exhaust, wheels and the rear view mirrors are also the ones that are expected to be on the production model.
The 2017 model gets major design and technological changes. The design is inspired by its big daddy – the 1290 Super Duke and the engine is from the outgoing model but now meets Euro IV emission norms. KTM is known to equip its bikes with a lot of features, and the 2017 version is no different. It is loaded with a new TFT instrument cluster with a hands-free kit and audio player. The suspension duties are taken care of by 43mm inverted front forks and rear monoshock. Just like the current model, the 2017 version gets switchable ABS too. The front 320mm disc brake is larger than the current model.
We’re expecting Bajaj to launch the 2017 KTM Duke 390 at the beginning of the next financial year. Just like the last time, the pricing will be competitive. We won’t be surprised if the Pune-based manufacturer asks just for a couple of thousands more for the new Duke 390 over the current model.
