KTM has unveiled the MY 2017 updates for its small capacity sportbikes, the RC200 and the RC125. These cosmetic updates will be responsible for extending the life cycle of these motorcycles until a facelift is unveiled by the end of 2017.
While the previous KTM RC200 came with an all black paint scheme with splashes of white and orange, the new livery is based on the current RC390’s livery. The white paint on the fairing contrasts with the black fuel tank. The frame, wheels and logos are painted in the company’s traditional orange. The RC125 on the other hand gets an orange paint scheme with white highlights on the fairing. Mechanically, both the bikes are identical to the previous models. The RC200 and RC125 are powered by single-cylinder liquid-cooled powertrains mated to six-speed transmissions, displacing 199cc and 124cc respectively.
While KTM unveiled the 2017 RC390 draped in a new livery at the Intermot 2016, the new RC200 and RC125 are expected to debut at next month’s EICMA Show in Milan, Italy. Both these A2 licence friendly motorcycles will go on sale in Europe by early 2017. In India, we can expect the new RC200 to hit the showrooms around the same time. It competes with other small-capacity sportbikes like the Yamaha YZF-R15, Bajaj Pulsar RS200, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Honda CBR150R.
