The brochures of the upcoming 2017 KTM RC200 and the RC390 have been leaked. This has revealed all the details of the soon-to-be launched fully-faired KTM bikes.
The 2017 KTM RC200 gets aesthetic as well as mechanical changes. It sports a new paint scheme with different graphics and a white fuel tank. The front brake disc is now bigger by 20mm at 300mm. The Austrian manufacturer hasn’t touched the engine. It continues to be powered by the 199cc single-cylinder liquid cooled engine that generates 24bhp at 10,000rpm and peak torque of 19.2Nm at 8000rpm. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
The 2017 KTM RC390 that was unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show received a lot of mechanical upgrades. Like its 200cc sibling, the RC390 also gets a 20mm increase in diameter for the front brake disc making it a 320mm unit. The major change on this bike is the bump in torque to 36Nm from 35Nm. This engine is also Euro-IV compliant. The weight has been increased by 4.5kg taking the overall kerb weight to 163.5kg. The RC390’s under-belly exhaust has made way for the new 2-stage exhaust. Other features like the slipper clutch, ride-by-wire throttle and switchable ABS are standard in the 2017 RC390.
We’re expecting both the bikes to be launched in the next few months with a marginal increase in price.
