Ahead of its anticipated launch by mid-June, Triumph dealers in the country have started accepting bookings for the Street Triple 765 at a token amount varying between ₹ 1 lakh – ₹ 2 lakh. Internationally, the 2017 model was unveiled earlier this year and the UK market gets it in three variants – S, R and the RS. However, we might get the S variant at launch, while the RS might be introduced later this year. For now, there are no plans for the R variant to be introduced anytime soon.
Mechanically, the new Triumph Street Triple 765 will be powered by a bigger 765cc, inline three-cylinder engine. However, the power output for both the bikes varies, as the S variant generates 111bhp at 11,250rpm and 73Nm of torque at 9,100rpm, while the RS trim generates 121bhp at 11,750rpm and 77Nm of torque at 10,800rpm. Both the trims will be offered with a six-speed transmission, while the RS will be additionally offered with a slip and assist slipper clutch and a quickshifter.
The 2017 model has an improved rider height by 10mm over its predecessor as it now stands at 810mm. The bikemaker also claims that the new model is also lighter by 2kg. The front gets Showa 41mm inverted separate function forks while the rear is suspended by a Showa monoshock with a piggyback reservoir. For braking, the front gets twin 310mm discs with twin-piston Nissin callipers, whereas the rear gets single 220mm disc with a single piston Brembo calliper.
Although Triumph will be announcing the price in a few weeks, we believe it might cost an additional ₹ 40,000 – ₹ 60,000 over the current model. The S trim is expected to be priced around ₹ 8.5 lakh, while the RS trim might be priced between ₹ 10 lakh – ₹ 11 lakh. More details about the bike will be revealed in next few days.
