Yamaha unveiled the 2017 MT-09 at the Intermot 2016 motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany, earlier this week. While keeping the basic recipe more or less the same, Yamaha has added more oomph to the MT-09 by giving it sinister looks and a few technological updates. With an Indian debut expected in the first quarter of 2017, the MT-09 will rival the likes of Kawasaki Z800 and the Triumph Speed Triple. Here is a detailed photo gallery of the 2017 Yamaha MT-09 -
The radical styling draws influence from the litre-class MT-10 with a new front fascia, redesigned body panels and a striking tail section.
The front gets a new twin headlamp setup with individual LED units, and the indicators have been relocated besides the radiator.
The digital console has been moved closer to the wide and tapered handlebars. The reshaped fuel tank offers a bigger knee recess for the rider.
The MT-09 is propelled by 850cc inline three cylinder CBR3 crossplane engine, which produces 115bhp and 88Nm of torque.
The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and quickshifter to allow clutchless upshifts.
The engine breathes out through an underbelly exhaust system, which helps mass centralisation apart from giving the rear a minimalistic look.
The MT-09 also gets updated 41mm front forks with compression damping in the left fork and rebound adjustment in the right.
The MT-09 comes with twin 298mm front disc brakes up front and a single 245mm disc brake in the rear. ABS is offered as standard.
Yamaha is offering the MT-09 in three loud paint schemes to complement the bike’s hooligan character – blue, black and grey.
