A new spy shot of the next-generation Yamaha YZF-R15 test mule has confirmed the addition of LED running lamps to its features list.
The new Yamaha YZF-R15 has been updated with a redesigned fairing with a twin-headlamp unit similar to the YZF-R3, though it now integrates LED running lamps. The raised rear section, split seats and LED tail lamp draw influence from the M-Slaz. Apart from a few cosmetic updates, the new YZF-R15 will also get upside down front forks like its naked sibling. Under the skin, the YZF-R15 will retain the 150cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, though it will be updated to meet BS IV emission norms for the Indian market.
It is surprising that Yamaha has decided to offer LED running lamps for the YZF-R15 when none of its elder siblings get one. This serves as an indication of the direction that Yamaha is heading towards, and we can expect the other motorcycles to get this feature in the near future. The YZF-R15 Version 3.0 will be introduced in Indonesia in early 2017, which means we might have to wait till mid-2017 for it to be launched here. As of now, the company is planning to launch a quarter-litre streetfighter in the Indian market based on the Brazil-spec Fazer 250 on January 24.
