With the new YZF-R15 Version 3.0 now on sale, Yamaha seems to have turned its attention towards the update for YZF-R25. A Japanese media house has rendered the 2017 YZF-R25 based on inside information.
The 2017 YZF-R25 is expected to draw influence from the new YZF-R6 with a redesigned fairing and sharp styling cues. The fairing will integrate an LED headlamp setup. Even riding dynamics are expected to get sportier with a front suspension overhaul. The conventional telescopic forks will be replaced with inverted forks. It is also expected to get radially mounted brake callipers. Under the skin, the new YZF-R3 will retain the 249cc parallel-twin engine, which delivers 36bhp and 22.6Nm of torque in its current guise. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, which will get a slipper clutch for 2017.
All the changes on the new YZF-R25 will eventually filter down on the YZF-R3 which is sold in India. We can expect the new YZF-R25 to be unveiled in the second half of 2017, which means that the Indian audience might have to wait till 2018. By that time, we can also expect to get ABS for this motorcycle. The YZF-R3 competes with the KTM RC390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
