Yamaha has just released a teaser video of what looks to be the upcoming 2017 Yamaha YZF-R6. The video doesn’t reveal much except for a blurry image of a fully faired bike along with a screaming sound note of the engine. There are also a few other indicators of this motorcycle to be the R6.
With the Yamaha YZF-R1 soon turning two, the timing suggests it is time for a new Yamaha YZF-R6. Yamaha has gone ahead and posted this teaser video to its website and social media accounts. The video reveals the bare minimum, showing us the rider most of time. However, the race track and the sound of the motorcycle sure are strong giveaways. The R6 sounds like it will continue using an updated version of the inline four flatplane engine.
Another indicator is when Valentino Rossi appeared to make a blunder on his facebook page. He revealed a picture of him aboard what looked to be the upcoming R6 in prototype form. The rider who is responsible for the development of many of Yamahas motorcycles captioned the image “Shot on board with GoPro on Yamaha R6”.
This supersport bike appears to be just around the corner, the video ends with the message of showing more on 4 October, the first press day of the INTERMOT trade show in Cologne, Germany.
