The last few days have been really good for the Indian adventure enthusiasts. BMW launched their 11 bikes in India, which included the legendary R 1200 GS and the Adventure versions. And now, the new F 900 GS has been spied for the first time.
The spied test mule didn’t wear any camouflage. In fact, this adventure test mule looks like a production ready model, thanks to the presence of full bodywork with a new engine and the mounted panniers and top box. The bike gets a new beam-type chassis instead of the trellis which we see on the F 800 GS. The test mule also shows its aluminium swingarm. The other interesting bits are the drive chain which has moved to the left-side of the bike and the exhaust on the right.
The German manufacturer has stuck to the traditional GS design with this new adventure. Protruding beak, asymmetrical headlamp and a big windscreen are all seen on this motorcycle. Powering this new adventure would be a new 900cc parallel-twin motor. The rumour mill suggest that this motor wouldn’t generate a lot of power and would be near the 90bhp range. The suspension system is also supposed to be worked upon heavily to help the bike take on the bad roads.
Just like the other BMW bikes, this motorcycle will be loaded with features like traction control system (TCS), ABS and rider modes. The adventure version of this motorcycle is bound to happen and could be shown at the time of the official unveil which we are expecting to happen either at 2017 Intermot or 2017 EICMA.
The Indian arm of BMW will definitely launch this adventure bike in India, as there is a good demand for its direct rival – the Triumph Tiger 800 range. The Honda Africa Twin, when launched in July, will also face the heat from this German adventure motorcycle.
