Registrations for the 2018 edition of the Dakar Rally, widely acknowledged to be the toughest race in the world, have been opened. They will remain open for 15 days from today.
Besides the usual professional set of racers, the organising body has made it a little easier for amateurs or professional aspirants to enter the rally via the 'Dakar Challenge'. The Dakar Rally expects over 500 competitors across classes, from sixty different countries. The racers will cover 10,000km over 15 days of racing over a couple of countries in South America. They will encounter every imaginable obstacle along the way.
The Dakar is not for the faint of heart, we've established that, but that's only half the story. If you want to participate in the rally, the entry fee alone will set you back by Rs 1.2 lakh. That's before you think of transport, both for yourself and your custom vehicle that you'll ride at the rally.
India will have representation at the 2018 Dakar via the Hero Speedbrain and Sherco TVS teams, and we'll update you on their progress on this very page.
