CS Santosh recovered really well to recover a number of positions to finish 64th. This makes his overall position 77th. Joaquim Rodrigues, on the other hand, rode steadily and finished 12th. He is now just under 50 minutes behind overall leader Quintanilla.
TVS Sherco didn’t have what they would term a very good day at the office; their Indian rider Aravind KP had a fall and injured his shoulder, taking him out of the race. Thankfully the injury is not so severe and he will be able to stay with the team through the race. This leaves Hero Speedbrain’s CS Santosh the sole Indian rider in the 2018 Dakar Rally. Juan Pedrero was handed a 15 minute penalty, and finished 63rd in the stage. His overall position is now 31st. Adrian Metge, the final TVS Sherco rider, rode well to finish 39th in the stage and 54th overall.
Stage 5 will keep the competitors along the coast, where a 268km special stage will be held in San Juan de Marcona and a liaison distance of 666km will be covered, ending in Arequipa.
