Ducati seems to be working on a new variant for the 959 Panigale according to the documents revealed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The reports show that the Italian manufacturer will launch the 959 Panigale Corse in 2018 alongside the standard model.
The 959 Panigale Corse will have the same engine as the standard 959 as the emission numbers claim, although the Corse, given Ducati’s history, will sport a few other upgrades. Ducati uses the ‘Corse’ name for limited production models, which included upgrades to the suspension, brakes and an aluminium fuel tank and the 959 Panigale Corse is expected to feature the same.
The standard 959 Panigale uses Showa forks upfront and a Sachs monoshock at the rear. The Corse version will most likely replace these with a fully-adjustable Ohlins setup and also get the red, white and black paint job.
With the 1299 Panigale to be replaced by a V4-powered bike by early September, the 959 Panigale, when launched, will become Ducati’s flagship V-Twin superbike.
