- Cosmetic upgrades inspired by the original M900
- Features a BS-IV-compliant engine
- Will be priced around Rs 10 lakhs
Ducati is going to launch the 2018 Monster 821 in India tomorrow. Featuring a slew of visual upgrades and a BS-IV-compliant engine, the Monster 821 is expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakhs.
For 2018, the Monster 821 features a streamlined body and a new twin-pipe exhaust. It also gets modern touches like an LED headlamp and colour instrument cluster. The TFT colour display now includes gear indicator and fuel gauge. The fuel lid clasp on the tank and the Ducati logo hark back to the original 1993 Monster M900.
Powering the Monster 821 is the same liquid-cooled L-twin Testastretta engine, although the output is slightly lower with the move to BS-IV norms. It now delivers 107bhp and 86Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission, with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quick shifter. The electronics package includes three riding modes, a three-level ABS and an eight-level traction control system.
We can expect the new Monster 821 to be slightly more expensive than the outgoing model. It will compete against the Triumph Street Triple and the Yamaha MT-09.
