Ducati seems to be working on updating its adventure-tourer, the Multistrada 1200. Emission homologation documents from the California Air Resources Board reveal that the manufacturer will bump up the displacement for the bike. The Multistrada 1200 will become the Multistrada 1260 and share the same 1262cc Testastretta DVT engine used in the XDiavel.
The XDiavel’s Testastretta DVT engine produces 152bhp but the Multistrada 1260 is expected to be more powerful as the documents show that the bike produces more emissions. More exhaust coming out means more fuel going in, which hints at more power from the engine. The current Multistrada 1200 claims 158bhp at 9500rpm and 136Nm at 7500rpm from its 1198cc DVT engine, so we expect more horsepower and a bump in torque due to the larger displacement.
The documents show that the Multistrada 1260 will have three variants- Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 1260 S and the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. There is no mention about an Enduro version for the 1260. The bike is expected to be launched at EICMA in Milan this year. Although, it is not clear if the bike will be an all-new model or just an engine upgrade, we’ll have to wait for official details from Ducati. BikeWale will keep you updated.
