Honda recently released a teaser revealing the launch of an upcoming bike on 24 October. Leaked images now confirm that the bike is the 2018 Goldwing, the manufacturer’s flagship touring motorcycle.
The design of the bike is entirely new. It is now sharper than the outgoing model and the headlamps are now all-LEDs. The bike will continue to use an 1832cc flat-six mill although with a few likely changes to lessen emissions and increase power or torque. The 2018 Goldwing’s infotainment system and controls have also been upgraded for a more premium feel to the motorcycle. Suspension on the bike has also been changed to ensure the front end is light. It uses something reminiscent of BMW’s Duolever suspension setup. The suspension is a semi-active unit that consists of a hidden shock absorber under the handlebars connected to a wishbone that handles the steering.
Images also reveal the updated bagger version of the Goldwing called the Goldwing F6B. The bike loses the top box and gets a shorter windscreen to accentuate the theme of the bike. Both these bikes will be revealed on 24 October at the Tokyo Motor Show. We can expect the 2018 Goldwing to reach Indian shores by early next year.
