The 2018 Kawasaki ZX-10R is expected to be launched in India in the next couple of weeks.
Dealerships have started to accept bookings for a token amount ranging from Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs. While rumours claim that the bike would arrive via the CKD (Completely knocked down) route, we expect the 2018 ZX-10R to be a SKD (semi-knocked down) unit. The bikes would then be assembled at Kawasaki’s plant in Chakan, Pune and would result in a price drop. While the current model retails at Rs 18.80 lakhs, the 2018 model is likely to be priced Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 4 lakhs lesser.
The Kawasaki ZX-10R is powered by a 998cc, inline-four engine that produces 197bhp and 113.5Nm of torque via a six-speed transmission and quickshifter. The bike’s electronic package consists of an engine braking control, launch control, ABS and five-level traction control system.
The supersport motorcycle goes head on against the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, Yamaha YZF-R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000 and BMW S1000RR in the country.
