Ducati has reclaimed its victory over the Pikes Peak Hill Climb from KTM at the 2018 edition of the racing event. Carlin Dunne set a time of 9:59.102 on the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. The road-legal version of the bike was launched in India today.
KTM rider Rennie Scaysbrook finished second on the 1290 Super Duke R clocking a time of 9:59.794; just seven-tenths of a second behind the winner. Ducati rider Chris Vahsholtz came in third in the Heavyweight category, also riding the Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak. He set a time of 10:12.703.
While Ducati claimed third in the Heavyweight category, Chris Fillmore stood an overall third with his KTM 790 Duke. He set a new record in the Middleweight category with an impressive time of 10:04.038. Chris Fillmore lead KTM to victory at the 2017 Pikes Peak with the 1290 Super Duke R and now holds records in both, the Heavyweight and Middleweight categories.
The Pikes Peak Hill Climb event takes place at the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado, USA. This year concluded 96 years of the event since it began in 1916. The track measures 19.99 km over 156 turns, with 4,720ft at the start to 14,110ft at the finish. Carlin Dunne who won this year's event, was the first to complete the race in less than 10 minutes. He set a record time of 9:52.819 back in 2012 on the Multistrada 1200 S.
