Royal Enfield will launch the 2018 Himalayan in the Indian market tomorrow.
The bike was spotted recently so we know that it sports a camouflage colour scheme. This theme consists of a grey colour with white and dark grey camo graphics on the front and rear fender along with the fuel tank. The front mudguard, rims and powertrain are all finished in a matte black colour.
This theme is inspired by the snow-clad Himalayan mountain ranges and if reports are true, the new colour will be called ‘Sleet’; meaning partially-melted snow. While the Himalayan is currently available in white and matte black colours, the camouflage scheme will be an addition to the colour palette.
Apart from these changes, the Royal Enfield Himalayan remains the same. It is powered by a 411cc single-cylinder mill that produces 24.5bhp and 32Nm of torque via a five-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by 41mm telescopic forks for the front and a link-type rear monoshock. Stopping power comes from a 300mm front and 240mm rear disc.
Royal Enfield will not only aim to boost the Himalayan’s appeal as an adventure tourer with teh new colour but also the sales figures of the bike. While the new Himalayan will debut tomorrow, Royal Enfield is expected to launch the Thunderbird 350X and Thunderbird 500X later this month. It also discontinued the Continental GT in from its line-up to make way for the Continental GT 650 along with the Interceptor 650 in the first half of 2018.
