2018 Suzuki Gixxer Cup round 1, day 2 race report

- Joseph Matthew dominates Round 1.

- Zothanmawia claims victory in Red Bull Road to Rookies

- Round 2 to be conducted from 31 August to 2 September at Kari Motor Speedway. 

Action on the second day of the first round of the Suzuki Gixxer cup was at an all-time high at the Kari Speedway in Coimbatore. Joseph Matthew continued his victorious run, remaining unbeaten over this weekend too. He finished the 10 laps in 14:16.799 minutes, recording his quickest time of 1:23.411 minutes on Lap 6 for his second straight victory.

Syed Muzamil Ali from Bengaluru and Malsawmdawngliana from Aizawl, who had finished third and second last evening, swapped places in Race 2 to finish on the same number of points. The Red Bull Road to Rookies was once again dominated by the boys from the north-east, with Zothanmawia, Jerome Vanlalrengpuia and Andy Lalhmangaihsang taking the podium spots. 

The second race was nearly disrupted due to the rain but thanks to the Euro JK18 cars taking to the track and dispersing the water as well as the sun making a fashionably late arrival, the track dried sufficiently for the races to be held. The action will return to the Kari Speedway from 31 August to 2 September for the second round of the 2018 JK Tyres FMSCI national championship.
