It might no longer wear the crown of the fastest production bike in the world, but our hearts will always have a soft spot for the Suzuki Hayabusa. Also known as the GSX-1300R or simply as the ‘Busa, this sports touring motorcycle was recently launched in India with MY2018 updates. Here is a photo gallery of the 2018 Suzuki Hayabusa.
For 2018, Suzuki updated the Hayabusa with new paint schemes. It is now available in white/red and red/black, with colour coordinated wheels.
Aerodynamics has played a major role in shaping the ‘Busa. It might look bulbous, but the ‘Busa is one of the fastest accelerating production bikes in the world.
The front is dominated by a triangular headlamp. On either sides of the headlamp are ram air intakes which blend in with the turn indicators.
Aerodynamics aside, it is the Hayabusa’s 1340cc inline-dour engine that makes this possible. The engine whips out 197bhp and 155Nm of torque.
Unlike its rivals, the Hayabusa features a modest electronics package comprising of riding modes and ABS. Mind you, there is no traction control system!
The Hayabusa can be ridden in three modes which alters the throttle response according to whether you are cruising on the highway or carving corners.
The instrument cluster wouldn’t seem out of place in an aeroplane cockpit. It comprises of two analogue dials flanking a digital display, and two more dials for fuel gauge and temperature.
The 17-inch wheels sport the iconic three-spoke design with slight tweaks to give them a modern touch. The ‘Busa rides on inverted front forks and a rear monoshock.
The brake setup consists of dual discs up front with Brembo monobloc callipers and a single disc at the rear with Tokico calliper.
The Hayabusa might not be as feature-rich as the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, but it sure does get a lucrative price tag of Rs 13.87 lakhs (ex-showroom), thanks to the lower duty on CKD motorcycles.
