Triumph Motorcycles has teased the 2018 Speed Triple in a video yet again. This video confirms speculations that sprung from the first teaser which was released last week.
The 2018 Speed Triple is expected to be available in ‘R’ and ‘RS’ versions along with a base version, likely to be the ‘S’. The top-of-the –line RS version will come equipped with Arrow end cans to lend the bike a grunty exhaust note. It will also get an Ohlins suspension setup and a revised electronics package that will include an updated traction control, rider modes and a quickshifter. While braking duties will be done by Brembo calipers as standard on the RS; the base version could use less expensive units.
The Speed Triple line-up is expected to get a full-colour TFT console and back-lit switchgear. The bikes will also get five-spoke wheels instead of the current model’s ten-spoke ‘Y’ design. For 2018, the Speed Triple will continue to use the 1050cc in-line three cylinder engine. However, power output is expected to get a boost from the current 133bhp.
Triumph will unveil the 2018 Speed Triple range for the international market on February 5. We can expect the Hinckley-based manufacturer to unveil the bike in India by the end of this year. It will compete against the Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the upcoming Honda CB1000R here.
