Triumph has released a teaser video revealing the 2018 Speed Triple. The bike will be revealed on 29 January and is expected to get a few upgrades to its performance and handling. The new Speed Triple is also likely to get an RS version along with an ‘S’ and ‘R’ version to mimic the smaller Street Triple’s line-up.
The video reveals a new TFT instrument cluster that displays basic information along with gear indicator, air temperature, clock, fuel range and fuel gauge. It also gets five-spoke wheels that replace the current model’s ten-spoke ‘Y’ design.
The teaser also uses terms like ‘more powerful’ and ‘more agile’. This suggests a boost from the current 133bhp power output along with an upgrade to its electronics package. The ‘RS’ version is also expected to get higher-spec suspension units, likely to be an Ohlins setup. According to earlier reports, this bike also has a higher-rev limit and a change in engine note.
While Triumph will unveil the bike globally next week, we can expect the Speed Triple to arrive in India by the end of 2018. It will compete against the Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the upcoming Honda CB1000R here.
Apart from the new Speed Triple, Triumph is expected to launch the Tiger 1200, Tiger 800 range and the Bonneville Speedmaster in India this year.
