Yamaha has unveiled the YZF-M1 race bike for the 2015 MotoGP season. Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales, Yamaha factory team's riders, took the wraps off their respective race bikes at an event in Madrid, Spain, earlier today.
Having extensively experimented with a new chassis in the last season, Yamaha will be using an evolved version of its 2016 chassis for this year. As for the suspension and brake setup, Yamaha will be sourcing these from Ohlins and Brembo respectively. Yamaha has retained the blue and white colours for its livery, with Movistar logo occupying a prominent spot on the fairing.
At the event, Yamaha also announced a two-year contract extension for Vinales. The 23-year-old had finished the last season in the third spot. However, there is no word about a similar extension for Rossi. 2018 will mark Rossi's 13th year with Yamaha and will be his last year with the Japanese manufacturer under the terms of his current contract. He had finished fifth in the 2017 season.
