Bajaj dealerships have started accepting bookings for the 2019 Dominar 400, hinting that the bike will be launched very soon. Here's what to expect from the upcoming motorcycle from Bajaj.
Design
The 2019 Dominar 400 will sport styling similar to the current model, however with a few changes to give it a refreshed appeal. One of the major cosmeic changes comes in the form of a redesigned exhaust canister. It is a stubby and sporty-looking double-barrel unit with an exhaust note closely resembling the KTM 390 Duke.
The bike's handlebar-mounted and tank mounted instrument clusters will be reconfigured. The main cluster now displays side-stand indicator and service reminder while the tank-mounted cluster gets the odometer and tripmeter.
Engine
The bike is likely to be powered by a retuned version of the 373cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from the current model. While this unit puts out 34.5bhp and 35Nm of torque, the new Dominar 400 is expected to produce slightly higher power figures. It will continue to come mated to six-speed gearbox and slipper-clutch.
Cycle Parts
Another major change on the Dominar 400 will be the inclusion of inverted front forks borrowed from the KTM parts bin. The 43mm front forks will be accompanied with a monoshock at the rear. The 2019 Dominar is likely to continue with the same braking setup which consists of a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc along with a dual-channel ABS unit.
Pricing
We expect Bajaj to price the 2019 Dominar 400 at a premium of around Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 over the current model which retails at Rs 1.63 lakhs.
