- It is a smaller version of the TRK 502
- It was recently unveiled at the 2018 EICMA in the production guise
- Official launch is set for next year and it might come to India as well
Benelli showcased its entry-level adventure tourer, the TRK 251, at the Thai Motor Show 2018. The motorcycle was first unveiled in its concept form at the EICMA 2017 while the production version was wrapped off recently at this year’s EICMA.
The motorcycle is a smaller version of the TRK 502 middle-weight adventure bike and borrows similar style cues. A beak-like fairing, puny twin-headlamp set up and a tall windscreen dominate the front of the motorcycle. The model on display has a carrier-mounted luggage box in order to showcase its touring intentions.
The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels which make it more of a road-focused model. It is based on a steel trellis frame and gets 41mm upside-down front forks and 51mm rear monoshock. Braking is taken care of by a 280mm floating disc on the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The kerb weight of the TRK 251 is 153kg while the fuel tank is a 17-litre unit.
The Benelli TRK 251 is powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 25bhp of power at 9000rpm and 21Nm of torque at 7,500rpm and, is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This is the same unit that does duty on the Benelli TNT25.
The bike will be officially launched next year and it is likely to come to India as well. The closest rivals here include the Kawasaki Versys X-300 and the BMW G310GS.
