Completely new bodywork and revised chassis.
New engine design, likely to produce 205bhp.
Could be launched in India sometime next year.
The CAD design patents of the 2019 BMW S 1000 RR have been leaked revealing details of the production version.
The biggest visual difference to the 2019 bike is the headlamps. It gets matching projector headlamps on either side of the central air intake in place of the asymmetrical headlamp unit. However, it continues with the asymmetrical fairing design with a gill-like pattern on the right and a single-opening on the left.
It also appears to get a new engine case design which is likely to house a counter-rotating crankshaft. This not only makes the bike more agile but also ensures lesser power wheelies during acceleration. The 2019 BMW S 1000 RR is also likely to produce 205bhp, up from the current model’s 199bhp. Along with a new engine, the bike sports a new frame. While the basic chassis is a twin-spar aluminium design, the sub frame is a trellis unit. The 2019 bike is also expected to get an updated electronics package with a TFT instrument display.
BMW is likely to unveil the production version of the 2019 S 1000 RR at the Intermot show or EICMA this year. We can expect the bike to arrive on our shores sometime later next year.
