The 2019 edition of BMW’s litre-class sportsbike, the S 1000 RR has been launched in India. While the design of the next-gen model is a major departure over its predecessor, the motorcycle has also received major mechanical and feature upgrades. As we are at the launch of the supersport, here’s a detailed photo gallery for you to gawk at this beautiful machine.
BMW has revamped the styling of the motorcycle which was already aggressive. From the mean-looking front fascia to the svelte tail section, everything has been overhauled to look edgier.
The pair of asymmetrical headlamps have been replaced by a twin sleek LED projector setup which flank a huge air intake on both sides.
The angular fairing is more minimalistic now and comes adorned with dual tone colours. Moreover, the fairing-mounted indicators are now integrated into the rear view mirrors.
Completing the design of the 2019 S 1000 RR a sharper and further upswept tail section which carries LED lamps and LED turn indicators.
BMW has also replaced the semi-digital instrument cluster of the previous-gen model by a 6.5-inch TFT full-colour display with Bluetooth-connectivity.
The 2019 version is underpinned by an all-new twin-spar chassis accompanied by a trellis subframe. This setup has helped BMW in weight reduction and, in sharpening the handling dynamics of the motorcycle.
What has also assisted in weight shedding is the all-new engine which is 4kgs lighter now. The 999cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four motor now pumps out 204bhp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm at 11,000rpm.
Enhancing the performance prowess further is BMW’s ShiftCam technology which varies the valve timing and valve stroke on the intake side. The engine also features revised geometry for intake and exhaust ports.
Damping duties are taken care of by Marzocchi suspension now, as opposed to the Sachs-branded units on its predecessor. The front gets fully-adjustable 45mm inverted forks with 120mm of travel while the rear gets a monoshock with 117mm of travel.
As for the braking setup, the Brembos have been replaced by Hayes brakes consisting of dual 320mm discs at the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
The 2019 S 1000 RR has been introduced in two striking colour options which include Racing Red and Light White/Lupin Metallic Blue/Racing Red.
