BMW Motorrad India launched its flagship supersport, the 2019 S1000RR in India recently. It is available in three variants that are priced at Rs 18.50 lakhs, 20.95 lakhs and go up to Rs 22.95 lakhs for the top-spec version. Considering the standard variant, here is the list of options you have in the same price bracket.
If you are looking for a supersport motorcycle similar to the S1000RR, you can have the Yamaha YZF-R1 at Rs 18.16 lakhs. Not only is the R1’s aggressive styling unique but so is its engine. The motorcycle is powered by a 998cc, cross-plane four-cylinder motor that produces 197bhp and 112Nm.
On the other hand, if a stripped-down street fighter is what you prefer, there are two motorcycles on this list that you can consider. First up is the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR. It comes with 798cc, inline-three cylinder engine housed in a tubular trellis frame. The engine is capable of churning out 136bhp and 87Nm. And given the Brutale’s kerb weight of just 175kg, it boasts of an incredible power-to-weight ratio. MV Agusta has pegged the Brutale 800 RR at Rs 18.99 lakhs.
You could also have the maniacal Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 which looks like a semi-faired RSV4. Aprilia has thrown in whatever MotoGP tech it could in a road-going bike and hence it is filled with all kinds of electronic wizardry. Powering the Tuono V4 1100 is a 1107cc, V4 engine that produces 173bhp and 121Nm. It will set you back by Rs 18.20 lakhs.
While the BMW S1000RR feels at home on the neatly-paved race track, the Indian market offers two motorcycles that will jump at an opportunity to go onto broken roads. You have the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro which like its name suggests is based on the Multistrada 1200. It gets the same bodywork at the latter but with longer travel suspension, spoke wheels, knuckle guards and an engine bash plate; the Multistrada 1200 Enduro is more capable off the road. It uses a 1198cc, L-twin that produces 157bhp and 136Nm. Ducati has priced the motorcycle at Rs 18.03 lakhs.
You could also have the BMW R1250 GS Adventure for Rs 18.25 lakhs. It is known as the ultimate adventure motorcycle and for good reasons. The R1250 GS Adventure offers a low centre of gravity making it easy to manoeuvre, it also gets a large 30-litre tank and comfortable riding ergonomics for long-distance riding. It comes with a 1254cc, boxer-twin engine with BMW’s Shift Cam technology. The motor churns out 132bhp and 143Nm.
