-Likely to be launched in India sometime soon

Honda has taken the wraps off the 2019 CB150R ‘Streetster’ in Thailand.

The CB150R Streetster gets a couple of cosmetic updates that set it apart from the standard version. It is offered in three colours- white, black and red. The bike sports a stripe running across the fuel tank along with a retro-looking number ‘150’ etched on the rear section. The tank extensions on the standard CB150R have an aluminium-finish, but the Streetster sports black painted units. Honda, to further give the CB150R Streetster a sporty appeal has painted the front and rear calipers along with the rear monoshock in red.

The CB150R borrows its design cues from its elder siblings the CB1000R and CB300R, both available in India. So there are modern elements along with a circular full-LED headlamp that exudes a retro look. Underneath the CB150R’s diamond-type frame is a 149cc, DOHC, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. While exact power output is unknown, the bike is expected to produce around 19bhp and will come mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Honda has used the economies of scale for the CB150R which uses identical cycle parts as the CB300R. It gets 41mm, inverted forks for the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking responsibilities are taken up by a 296mm front disc and a 220mm rear along with a dual-channel ABS unit.

We can expect Honda to launch the CB150R in India soon. And it would be most welcome in the Streetster trim that would enhance its visual appeal. When launched, the bike is likely to be priced around Rs 1.2 lakhs and Rs 1.3 lakhs and directly compete with the KTM 125 Duke and the Yamaha MT-15
