2019 Honda CB300R recalled in the US

- Honda has recalled around 4000 units of the CB300R

- Affected bikes may have transmission misalignment

- Recall has not been issued in India

Honda has issued a recall for the 2019 CB300R naked motorcycle in the US. According to the report published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected motorcycles may have gear misalignment owing to the detachment of circlip. Around 4000 units of the CB300R have been recalled in the US.

Going by the recall document, the glitch in the motorcycles may cause a sudden engagement of a gear when it is left idle in neutral. This will cause the bike getting propelled abruptly and a seizure of the transmission and rear wheel. This malfunctioning might result in a serious crash and could be dangerous for the rider. In order to fix the issue, Honda dealers have proactively started contacting the owners of the affected motorcycles and resolving the issue free of cost. 

The Honda CB300R was launched in India in February this year. On contacting Honda, we learned that the motorcycles in India have not been affected by the issue. Available as a CKD (completely knocked down) model, the CB300R has been priced at Rs 2.41 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, the motorcycle competes against the KTM 390 Duke, Benelli TNT 300 and the BMW G310R.
