Honda has launched the 2019 versions of the CBR1000RR Fireblade and the Fireblade SP that are priced at Rs 16.43 lakh and Rs 19.28 lakh, respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The dealerships have started accepting bookings for the bikes and deliveries are expected by early 2019. While the standard Fireblade is available in grand prix red and matt ballistic black metallic colour options, the SP variant comes in grand prix red colour only.
For 2019, the CBR1000RR Fireblade has received electronic updates while remaining the same engine-wise and mechanically. The bikes now get wheelie control system which provides more control during aggressive acceleration. All the information is displayed on a full-colour TFT LCD cluster and the RMSS (rider mode select system) allows for changing various parameters through this display.
Powering the bike is a 999cc, in-line four cylinder motor that churns out 189bhp of power at 13,000rpm and 114Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. The unit is mated to a six-speed transmission. Suspension is handled by upside-down front forks and a gas-charged monoshock absorber. However, the SP version incorporates more premium semi-active electronically-adjustable Ohlins on both ends. Braking is taken care of by a pair of 320mm disc on the front and a 220mm disc at the rear.
The CBR1000RR Fireblade models compete against the Yamaha YZF-R1, BMW S1000RR, Ducati Panigale V4, Kawasaki ZX-10RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R and the Aprilia RSV4 RF.
