- Based on the CBR500R with similar design and chassis
- No plans to launch in India currently
The CBR400R receives a smaller version of the 471cc unit that powers the CBR500R. With a displacement of 399cc, the parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor is rated to produce 46bhp at 9000rpm and 38Nm at 7500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch. It also receives an enhanced exhaust system that has been designed by Honda Racing Experience.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the back. The motorcycle sports 17-inch multi-spoke alloys shod with 120 section front tyre and a 180 section rear tyre. The seat height is set at 785mm. Braking is done by disc brakes at both ends equipped with dual-channel ABS.
Internationally, the 2019 CBR400R will be offered with the choice of three colours - Grand Prix Red, Mat Axis Grey Metallic and Pearl Glare White. Besides the launch of the CB300R in India tomorrow, Honda has no plans of bringing the CBR400R to India anytime soon. If launched, the 2019 CBR400R will compete against the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and the KTM RC390 in India.
