Honda has recently launched the 2019 edition of the Gold Wing in India. Carrying a sticker price of Rs 27.79 lakhs, it competes against the likes of the Indian Roadmaster, Indian Chief Vintage, Indian Chieftain Dark Horse, BMW K 1600 B, Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special and the Harley-Davidson Road King. Here’s a detailed photo gallery of Honda’s flagship tourer.
The Gold Wing features a double wishbone front suspension instead of a telescopic fork setup which allows more vertical movement for the front wheel.
The 2019 Gold Wing weighs 379kg (40kg less than its predecessor), packs more power while being more efficient and is packed with an exhaustive list of features.
It gets throttle-by-wire feature along with four riding modes (tour, sport, econ and rain) for altering the bike’s power delivery.
Powering the 2019 Gold Wing Tour is the same 1833cc, flat six-cylinder engine that generates 124bhp at 5,500rpm and 170Nm of torque at 4,500rpm.
The engine comes mated to a DCT (dual clutch transmission) system which performs automatic clutch and shift operation.
The motorcycle features a 7-inch full-colour TFT liquid crystal display for the instrument console. Features like HSTC (Honda Selectable Torque Control System), rider modes, navigation and audio controls can be managed through the unit.
Under the 2019 update, the motorcycle comes with an electronically-adjustable windscreen, storage box, Apple CarPlay and ABS, all as standard equipment.
The DCT comes with a couple of very helpful features like ‘walk mode’ where it allows the bike to crawl to make moving the bike easy for a sole rider. Apart from that, additional electronic-aids include hill start assist (HAS) and idling stop function.
Braking is done by 320mm dual-discs up front with 6-piston calipers while the rear gets a 316mm disc with a 3-piston caliper.
Bookings for the flagship tourer have already commenced, following which, deliveries are likely to begin by early 2019.
