- Will be sold in India via CKD Route
Kawasaki India has launched the all-new 2019 Ninja ZX-6R in India. Priced at Rs 10.49 lakhs (ex-showroom), the middle-weight motorcycle sits below the ZX-10R in the SuperSport class. Pre-bookings commenced in October and deliveries of the motorcycles are scheduled to begin from February 2019.
Designed to strike a balance between city commutes and weekends at the track, the ZX-6R caters to a wide spectrum of motorcyclists. The motorcycle comes with an all-LED setup for the headlamp and taillights. It features a new instrument console with a large analogue tachometer flanked by warning lights on one side and the gear position indicator and multi-function LED display on the other. Apart from the standard information provided by the display, it also has added features for the fuel guage and range. On the tech front, the motorcycle comes with Kawasaki anti-lock Brake System, Kawasaki Traction Control and Kawasaki Quick Shifter. The bike rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Bridgestone Batallax Hypersport S22 tyres for superior grip in both wet and dry conditions.
Powering Kawasaki’s middle-weight offering is a 636cc inline-4 liquid-cooled motor that is capable of producing 127.9bhp of max power and 70.8Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Featuring a 17-litre fuel tank, the ZX-6R has a kerb weight of 193kg. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm adjustable Showa inverted forks upfront and a bottom-link Uni Trak gas-charged shock absorber for the rear. The motorcycle sports 310mm twin discs with radially-mounted Monobloc calipers for the front and a 220mm single disc with single-pot caliper for the rear.
Since the motorcycle has been launched at an introductory price, it is imminent that Kawasaki will be hiking the prices by a significant margin later. Currently, the ZX-6R doesn’t have any direct competition, but on the price front, it rivals against the Ninja 1000, Yamaha MT-09 and the Ducati Scrambler 1100.
