After a gruelling Day 1 of the marathon stages, the on-going 2019 Merzouga Rally reached the end of Stage 4 (Day 2 of the marathon stage). Leading the stage in the Enduro class, Sherco TVS Rally Factory Team’s Abdul Wahid grabbed the first position while maintaining his position two in overall rankings. Meanwhile, Sherco TVS’ rider Aravind KP managed to progress significantly in his timings and finished the stage at P19 in the rally category. His overall ranking stood at P54 in the on-going rally.
Progressively, both riders of Hero MotoSports Team Rally managed to perform well in Stage 4 of the rally. While Oriol Mena completed the stage in the sixth position, his teammate Joaquim Rodrigues finished in 11th position. In terms of overall rankings, while Oriol maintained this third position, JRod moved down from second to the fourth position.
Stage 4 of the Merzouga Rally turned out to be the most difficult stage of the rally. The riders covered a distance of 205km without any assistance from the service crew. In the case of the Hero riders, they initially ending up losing time in the process of finding the right way into the stage, but eventually managed to do so by helping each other. In the latter part of the stage, while negotiating a tricky downhill section, JRod ended up breaking his GPS which caused him to stop several times to fix it.
Now, the final stage of the rally will be the deciding factor for the riders where they will be seen competing for the big finish, traversing 48 km through the dunes of Merzouga.
