Suzuki has launched the 2019 edition of its middle-weight naked bike, the GSX-S750 in India. The new model has received refreshed graphics and two new colour options; metallic matte black and pearl glacier white. The previously available blue and red shades have now been discontinued. Priced at Rs 7.46 lakhs, the GSX-S750 is an attractive package with its aggressive looks, modern features and in-line four motor. However, at a similar price, the market offers four alternatives which are worth considering. We take a look at them.
The closest rival of the GSX-S750, the Kawasaki Z900 is also a naked streetfighter which demands a premium of around Rs 22,000 over the Suzuki. Boasting of predator-like looks, the Z900 is powered by a 948cc, liquid-cooled, in-line four engine which comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Churning out 123.3bhp and 98.6Nm, this Kwacker makes slightly more power and torque than its competitor.
Besides the GSX, Suzuki also has the V-Strom 650 XT for the ones who love to go adventure touring every once in a while. Priced at Rs 7.51 lakhs, the motorcycle features a 645cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine. However, the burly dimensions of this ADV lend it a big-bike appeal. Additionally, the comfortable ergonomics, tractable motor and spoke wheels make the V-Strom a capable adventure bike.
Moving on, the most affordable bike in this list is the Ducati Scrambler Icon. An entry-level offering from the Italian bikemaker, this motorcycle boasts of a combination of retro styling and modern features such as LED lamps, fully-digital instrument cluster and ABS. It carries a sticker price of Rs 7.27 lakhs. Meanwhile, Triumph also offers a modern-classic bike - the Street Twin which retails at Rs 7.70 lakhs. The most accessible product in Triumph’s portfolio, the Street Twin features traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS and two riding modes – Rain and Road. Powering the motorcycle is a 900cc, twin-cylinder motor which makes 64bhp and 80Nm.
