- Features refreshed design
- Instrument cluster seems to be upgraded
- Shares its powerplant with the YZF R15 V3
Yamaha is all set to update its 155cc maxi scooter offering, the NMax 155 for 2019 in the International markets. The new model of the scooter has been leaked through the newly-surfaced patent images on the internet. In terms of changes, it seems to have received significant updates to its styling.
Starting up front, the headlamp of the new NMax 155 looks sharper and more compact as compared to the current-gen model. The windscreen is also larger while the turn indicators have been placed lower on the front panel. There are further prominent changes at the rear section, especially on the tail lamp, which has been redesigned to look sleeker. Moreover, the footboard and the shape of the seat have also been tweaked, perhaps for improved ergonomics.
In terms of features, the patent images further signify that the 2019 NMax will feature LED DRLs while the rounded instrument cluster will be replaced by a larger, rectangular unit. The outgoing model incorporates a 23.5-litre under seat storage space which is likely to be retained on the new version. Coming to the powerplant, this maxi scooter shares it engine with the YZF R15 V3. It is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled mill which features VVA (variable valve actuation) technology. On the NMax 155, it comes mated with an automatic gearbox and churns out 14.8bhp and 14.4Nm.
The Yamaha NMax 155 is currently sold in a few International markets. However, the maxi scooter is unlikely to make its way to India anytime soon.
