- Gets sharper bodywork inspired by the YZF-R6.
- Sports inverted front forks and LCD instrument cluster.
- Likely to be unveiled at EICMA this November.
Design patents filed in Turkey and Australia has been leaked, revealing clearer details about the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3.
The bike sports completely revised bodywork inspired from the YZF-R6 with sharp lines and creases all through. It gets split headlamps which are likely to be LED units with a large air-intake in between, similar to its bigger siblings. The tank also appears to have been redesigned to replicate the YZF-R1.
However, the biggest change is the introduction of inverted front forks. The design patents also reveal that the bike will come equipped with an LCD instrument cluster similar to the YZF-R15 V3. While the current bike is powered by a 321cc, parallel-twin engine, the 2019 model is rumoured to get a bigger engine to keep it on par with its rivals; the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and KTM RC390.
Yamaha is expected to globally unveil the 2019 YZF-R3 either at the Intermot or EICMA. It is likely to be launched in India in the first half of 2019.
