- Gets cosmetic and mechanical changes.
- No changes to the 321cc, parallel-twin engine.
- Expected to arrive in India sometime next year.
After much speculation, renderings and spy images, Yamaha have finally unveiled the 2019 YZF-R3.
The bike sports sharper, redesigned bodywork that seems to be inspired from the YZF-R6. It gets a full-LED twin-headlamp setup with an air intake in between similar to its smaller sibling, the YZF-R15 V3. The 14-litre fuel tank is also more muscular an in tune with the current ‘YZF’ line-up.
The 2019 YZF-R3 finally comes equipped with 37mm inverted front forks from KYB which are gold-finished for a premium appeal. It also makes do with an analogue-digital instrument cluster for a full-LCD unit. Apart from these changes, the bike remains the same. It continues to be powered by the 321cc, parallel-twin motor that produces 41.4bhp and 29.6Nm of torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. However, it still misses out on the slipper clutch and VVA technology its smaller sibling gets.
It is available in black/blue and black/white paint jobs. The 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and KTM RC390 globally. We can expect the bike to arrive on Indian shores sometime next year priced at a premium over the current model which retails at Rs 3.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).
