BMW Motorrad has announced that it will start the official pre-bookings of the upcoming 2020 G 310 GS BS6 from 1 September in India. Now, this indicates that the official launch of the motorcycle is also around the corner. In case you’re planning to buy the new model of the baby GS, here’s what to expect from the motorcycle.
Design and features
The 2020 G 310 GS BS6 has been spied multiple times on the Indian roads, clearly revealing the cosmetic changes it has gone through. The design of the headlamp cluster and side panels have been tweaked to look sharper. While the rest of the body work has remained untouched, BMW has dipped the frame and alloy wheels in red colour to add a bit of drama to its aesthetics. Also, expect it to be bestowed with bolder graphics.
On the feature front, the only change we could interpret from the spy images till now is the presence of full-LED headlamp and turn indicators, as opposed to the conventional units in the BS4 model. Meanwhile, the instrument cluster will continue to be an LCD screen. It will still be deprived of Bluetooth connectivity, a functionality that’s becoming pretty common these days.
Engine
The motorcycle will certainly be powered by the same 313cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor but with certain revisions for cleaner emissions. These changes might result in a variation in its power output as compared to the BS4 iteration which churns out 33bhp and 28Nm. Notably, the company has hinted that it will be a more refined unit now. Transmission duties will continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox.
Cycle Parts
The new G 310 GS BS6 is likely to remain identical to its BS4 counterpart in the hardware department. Hence, it will sport a 19-17-inch alloy wheel combination suspended by upside down forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking will be handled by a single disc at both ends assisted by switchable, dual-channel ABS. It might also retain the Metzeler Tourance tyres from the outgoing model.
Pricing
The BS4 model of the BMW G 310 GS was pegged at Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom) which made it considerably more expensive than its direct rival, the KTM 390 Adventure. However, that will most likely be changed with the launch of the BS6 model as the German bike maker is expected to price the bike lesser than before.
