BMW Motorrad recently introduced the 2020 BS6-compliant version of its entry-level naked street bike, the G 310 R, in India. The motorcycle has received multiple updates which have made an already impressive motorcycle even more desirable. In case you’re planning to buy the new 2020 G 310 R, here are five things you should know about it.
Restyled front end
While the overall silhouette of the G 310 R has remained unchanged, the headlamp cowl and fuel tank extensions have been tweaked to look sharper. Also, there’s an additional panel between the fuel tank and extensions which makes the design look slightly busier and hides larger part of the main frame. Rest of the styling has been left unaltered.
Jazzy colour options
The new colour options of the G 310 R are much more vibrant and fancier than the previously available paint schemes. Especially the Style Sport trim as it gets bright red wheels and frame along with red accents on the body panels which are finished in white and dark grey. The other two colour schemes including Cosmic Black and Polar White also look cool and eye catchy.
New features
BMW has now done away with the halogen headlamp in favour of an LED unit. In fact, the turn indicators are also LEDs now. Another new addition is an assist and slipper clutch which makes aggressive downshifts safer by preventing the rear wheel from hopping.
Cleaner engine
Although the new G 310 R runs the same 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, it has been internally altered to comply with the new BS6 emission norms. In spite of that, the power figures haven’t witnessed any changes and it still produces 34bhp at 9,500rpm and 28Nm at 7,000rpm. Transmission duties continue to be handled by a six-speed gearbox.
Priced lesser
One of the most interesting aspects of the new G 310 R is its pricing. Despite receiving several updates, the motorcycle has been pegged Rs 54,000 lesser than its BS4 counterpart and it carries a price tag of Rs 2.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
