- BMW G 310 R, G 310 GS fetch 1,000 bookings
- Official launch took place on 8 October, 2020
- Both are priced considerably lesser than their BS4 versions
BMW Motorrad recently introduced the new BS6-compliant, 2020 models of the G 310 R and the G 310 GS in India. The most talked-about aspect of these bikes is their pricing which is substantially lesser than their outgoing BS4 counterparts. This pricing strategy of BMW seems to be working in its favour as both bikes have collectively fetched 1,000 bookings in less than a month of their launch in India.
The G 310 R, which is the street naked version of the two, has been priced at Rs 2.45 lakh while its adventure touring iteration, the G 310 GS, is pegged at Rs 2.85 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). The resulting price reduction as compared to their BS4 models stands at Rs 54,000 and Rs 64,000, respectively.
Talking about the updates these bikes have received, they have been restyled to look sportier with a tweaked headlamp cluster and a busier fuel tank section. Enhancing their aesthetic appeal further are three new swanky colour options for each model. The feature list has also been updated with the addition of an LED headlamp and LED turn indicators. Furthermore, the 312cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine has been altered to comply with the BS6 emission norms but it continues to produce 34bhp and 28Nm.
On the competition front, the BMW G 310 R takes on the KTM 390 Duke while the G 310 GS goes up against the likes of the KTM 390 Adventure and the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
