BMW Motorrad amazed everyone by pricing the 2020 G 310 R BS6 around Rs 54,000 lesser than the previous BS4 model. Despite receiving a bunch of updates, it has been attractively pegged at Rs 2.45 lakh. While it’s a much more desirable motorcycle now, there are four similarly-priced alternatives which give it a tough competition in all areas. Let’s check them out.
TVS Apache RR310: Rs 2.48 lakh
The Apache RR310 and the G 310 R share the same engine and similar cycle parts since both are manufactured by TVS. However, as an overall package, the former brings many more things to the table than the latter. It sports a fully-faired styling along with sporty yet fairly comfortable ergonomics. It is also high on features with a Bluetooth-enabled full-colour TFT display showing a plethora of information. But the most interesting trait of the RR 310 is the presence of four riding modes, something that was never seen before in this segment.
KTM RC 390: Rs 2.53 lakh
For those who prefer a power-packed track tool but can manage with lesser features, the KTM RC 390 is one manic machine. With a profoundly sharp design, highly committed ergonomics and a 42.3bhp, 373cc mill, it offers a thrilling supersport experience which is unbeatable around this price range. The RC 390 also boasts of premium hardware, which is typical of a KTM, but it gets slightly dated features such as an LCD console and a halogen projector-type headlamp.
KTM 390 Duke: Rs 2.57 lakh
The KTM 390 Duke is a naked street bike which gets the same delightful engine as the RC 390, but comes across as a more practical package with a comfortable riding position and a host of features. It gets full-LED lighting and a colour TFT dash which can be paired with the rider’s smartphone. It also gets a ride-wire-throttle and three modes for ABS. What’s more, the latest iteration of the 390 Duke also benefits from a quick shifter which is the same system offered in the more expensive 390 Adventure.
Royal Enfield Interceptor 650: Rs 2.67 lakh
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is currently the most affordable motorcycle with a parallel-twin engine, which happens to be its USP. The 648cc, air/oil-cooled motor packs gallops of punch while being relaxed enough to be suitable for city riding. Also, the six-speed gearbox is accompanied by a slipper clutch. However, keeping with its retro genre, it gets basic features such as a semi-digital console and conventional lighting.
